A decade flies by quickly just as yesterday
But memories of you cannot take a similar flight;
They remain engraved in our hearts,
To be passed on from generations to generation,
To tell of how the LORD in His infinite mercy,
Shapes the lives of men for His glory.
Peaceful, humble and humorous aptly describes you;
A very thoughtful person who loved and cared deeply.
One willing to sacrifice his comfort for others;
And fully content to see them succeed.
A highly intelligent and hardworking man;
A father and mentor to many.
You led by example, not words.
Instilling godly virtues in very unassuming ways.
You would say: No amount of material possessions,
Is ever enough to bring honour to men,
As would wisdom, hard work, integrity and humility.
In this, you taught godliness, contentment, and confidence.
You were ever present in our lives,
You taught us beyond the regular.
You listened to us, allowed us to argue with you,
And would even seek our advice for yourself.
Our playmate and coach went to heaven 10 years ago!
And our living-room table tennis club has hung its bats for a season.
But a decade in eternity is perhaps just a day;
It may well be a thousand.
And what joy it will be to spend eternity,
Beholding Your face, LORD!
‘So teach us to number our days,
That we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.’ Psalm 90:12 (KJV)
-Lovingly remembered by Lucy, Gameli and Delali.
